The SIB50110 Diploma of Beauty Therapy at ANCB is your ticket to a successful career in an exciting and expanding industry. The Diploma course covers the common treatments available in Certificate IV and additional units in body treatments, electrolysis, micro-dermabrasian, aromatherapy and plant oils, reflexology, massage, advanced facials and spa treatments, depending on the elective stream chosen. You will develop industry required skills needed to enhance and expand your career. With expert guidance and support in a specialised, interactive learning environment you can relax and enjoy the essence of studying beauty therapy.
The SIB50110 Diploma of Beauty Therapy pathways include:
• Electrolysis
• Spa Treatments
• Aromatherapy/Relaxation Massage.
Electrolysis
Electrolysis is the only form of permanent hair removal and the practice has been around for 80 years. It is the foundation knowledge and practice required for newer forms of hair reduction services such as laser and IPL. Electrolysis treats hair regardless of pigmentation, so is an important treatment for beauty therapist to have a sound knowledge and skill in, especially if they are working with other methods of hair reduction. Our program consists of 168 hours of dedicated electrolysis practice in a classroom and clinic based setting. This is essential for anybody that wants to go onto the Victoria University Bachelor of Health Science (Dermal Therapies). (Theory and practical based).
Spa Treatments
Spa therapies have been emerging in popularity over many years, and are now an essential part of the treatment repertoire. Most beauty therapy businesses provide relaxation and regenerative services. It is one of the fastest growing industries in the world today.
For those that wish to work in resorts, spa’s, cruise ships, boutique and lifestyle retreats, this is the program for you. You will cover spa treatments in a dry room setting, wet room setting/hydrotherapy and learn treatments from eastern and Ayurvedic influences including Indian head massage, Stone therapy massage, Reflexology, Body exfoliation, Wraps and Clays.
Students will learn the theoretical aspects of all spa services along with building on customer relations in the workplace. Complete over 300 hours of practical based experience and clinic based settings. Students will complete training in the application of first aid.
Industry Accreditation
This course has been designed to meet industry recognition by the Association of Professional Aestheticians of Australia (APAA). The APAA is the oldest and most active Association in the Beauty Industry in Australia. ANCB is accredited with ITEC and CIDESCO, both are leading international accrediting bodies for the Beauty Therapy Industry. ITEC is one of the premier International Awarding Organisiations for qualifications in Beauty, Complementary and Sports Therapy & CIDESCO is the world’s first International Beauty Therapy Association. Both recognitions provide students with a platform of International accreditations.
Articulation
This course is ideal for students wishing to complete a Beauty Therapy qualification as a pathway to higher levels of study. Students successfully completing the SIB50110 Diploma of Beauty Therapy at ANCB have the option of continuing to study a Bachelor of Health Science (Dermal Therapies) at Victoria University in Melbourne Campus. Completing this Bachelor degree at Victoria University takes another 2.5 years of full-time study or part-time equivalent to complete.
Entry requirements
ANCB courses are direct entry. For on campus students, if you are under the age of 18 years at course commencement you may be required to participate in an interview to assess your suitability for the course.
For ANCB flexible online learning you are required to be over the age of 18 years at course commencement.
Overseas students are required to demonstrate an English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 (Academic) overall, with a minimum of 5.0 in each skill. This course is available to overseas students studying full-time on-campus in Sydney. Part-time and distance education options are not available for overseas students.
