You can pick from the following majors that are available for online study:
Anthropology & Sociology
Anthropology is the study of what it means to be human through the lens of cultural diversity. Anthropologists are interested in all peoples and societies, from small-scale farming communities to large-scale industrial urban societies. Sociology studies how human actions in modern societies are shaped by membership in social groups and by wider social, economic and political processes. Both fields share a common interest in the comparative study of human societies in all their historical and contemporary variation. This major brings both fields together to broaden your scope for interdisciplinary research and professional practice
Asian Studies
The dynamic countries and diverse cultures of Asia present a fascinating array of subjects for study. Such study is particularly relevant given Australia’s geographical location. Our growing economic ties with these countries make it increasingly important that we become more familiar with the region History
History focuses on the past, examining the development of social, political, cultural and economic forces and how they have shaped societies and cultures over time. Your studies will be international in scope, including specialised studies in Australia, India and the subcontinent, the Middle East, South Africa, Japan, Indonesia and Europe.
International Relations
International Relations examines inter-governmental politics in today’s fast-paced world. In this major you will explore inter-governmental relationships within and across nations, foreign policy analysis and strategic decision-making, along with relationships with international agencies, networks and interest groups. Your studies will emphasise the governmental and inter-governmental patterns found in Australia, its neighbouring region and major political and trading partners.
Internet Communications
In this major you’ll learn, in detail, about the human dimensions of the Internet: how people network, collaborate and share information through Internet communications, media and design. You will develop advanced skills in creating, maintaining and managing online communications for personal and commercial interactions, and gain knowledge of the social and cultural contexts within which those interactions occur.
Sustainable Development
Throughout the world, climate change, environmental stress, technological change and cultural conflict pose great challenges to humanity. Achieving social, economic and environmental sustainability in such conditions involves meeting challenges which extend from securing essential food and energy supplies, to developing viable communities, social, cultural and economic institutions, and finding effective systems of local, national and international governance.
