The Bachelor of Commerce is designed to take you beyond the classroom and into the real world and get you "industry ready" so you gain the theory and practical skills you will need to be confident and ready for today's job market. You will be taught by experts, with opportunities to interact with businesses and learn in real workplace experiences.
Commerce graduates go on to a diverse and exciting range of careers from accountants, advertising executives to financial analysts. In fact, all workplaces incorporate business, from small, independent shops to government departments and global mining companies. A commerce degree will set you on whatever career path you choose, anywhere in the world.
In the first year of this course you will gain an introduction to the various aspects of business through the six common core units (accounting, economics, information systems, legal framework, management and marketing). You will then go on to choose a major or a major combination within the degree.

Advertising This major will give you an understanding of the business principles and processes underpinning advertising. You’ll gain an insight into, and an appreciation, for the creative elements of advertising and learn how to effectively apply these to marketing communications or advertising industries. Emphasis is placed on the dynamic exchange processes in competitive markets.
Finance Careers in finance can be broadly defined to include corporate finance, financial institutions, financial markets and various branches of the financial services industry. This major will give you a broad understanding of the structure and operations of financial markets in management. You will learn about investment evaluation, decide how to fund activities and understand the roles played by financial markets and instruments.
Business Law In this major you’ll gain a foundation in business law and develop significant knowledge of torts, real property, trusts and trade practices. You’ll also consider the ethical issues in business practice.
Management This major focuses on the key challenges facing practising managers today such as the relationship between people and an organisation, performance, change, innovation and technology. You will develop a foundation of knowledge, insights and abilities required of managers in a wide range of sectors, industries and functions, including the management skills of communication, problem solving, planning, organising, managing change and working cooperatively with others.
Marketing Marketing is a dynamic area which involves giving a business a competitive edge. This major will provide you with an understanding of consumer behaviour and how marketing works, and the chance to explore various aspects of marketing, including international and Internet marketing, sales, pricing, promotion and distribution strategies. You’ll explore the ways in which marketing anticipates demands for products, services and ideas by analysing behaviour of competitors and customers.

Desirable TEE Subjects: Applicable Mathematics or Discrete Mathematics
