The CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is an ideal course to kick start your child care career. You do not need any previous experience or training to study this course. You can study online from anywhere in Australia and this course even includes a hands-on vocational placement in a child care centre so you develop real experience in the industry.

Course Outline and Structure

Inspire Education delivers the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care as an online/distance education course, providing first-class training and student support. There is no hanging around waiting for a starting date - with online education, you can enrol and get started straight away!

You'll have 12 months to complete all the theory and practical components of the course at your own pace, with trainer support. All our trainers are expert childcare professionals with years of hands-on experience in the childcare industry! 

The course itself is comprised of 11 core units and 4 electives (see the unit list below for more details). They provide an excellent mix of practical and theoretical training that will put you in the best position to formalise your experience or get your new career in childcare started.

Work Placement

Workplace based experience is one of the best features of our Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care course! As part of your childcare course, you will need to initiate contact with a registered Child Care facility and complete a hands-on work placement. This will solidify your practical experience and skills working with children. The work placement should be a minimum of 80 hours in total, up to a maximum of 240 hours.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites for this course, however a sound understanding of the English language is necessary.

You will need to have:

  • Access to a computer (PC or Mac) with Internet
  • Adobe Flash Player 7
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (Essential for Mac Users)
  • Microsoft Word 97 or later (for PC)

  • CHCECE005 - Provide care for babies and toddlers
  • CHCECE007 - Develop positive and respectful relationships with children
  • CHCECE009 - Use an approved learning framework to guide practice
  • CHCECE010 - Support the holistic development of children in early childhood
  • CHCECE011 - Provide experiences to support children’s play and learning
  • CHCECE013 - Use information about children to inform practice
  • CHCPRT001 - Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
  • HLTAID004 - Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting*
  • HLTWHS001 - Participate in work health and safety
  • HLTHIR404D - Work effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people

* The HLTAID004 - Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting" unit is not delivered by Inspire Education, students must organise the completion of this unit via an external provider.

Recognition of Prior Learning 

RPL is available to any learner who can provide evidence of competency for the units offered within the qualification.
