Who are we? We're Robert and Lili Friend. We operated Orchids by Olympia for more than 20 years, growing lots of different of orchids for cut flowers, as pot plants and as plants for the connoisseur and collector. We imported and exported orchids and raised thousands from seed. I (Robert) started growing orchids in 1949. I've written several books and many magazine articles on orchids. Timber Press published my latest book, Growing Orchids in Your Garden, in 2004. I'm a Life Member of the Northern Rivers Orchid Species Society. I've given talks at orchid workshops and trade fairs and to orchid societies and garden clubs. I'm also a lawyer and a certificated trainer for the Real Estate Institute of Queensland. I've written a number of training manuals. My wife Lili has also written manuals. Lili has presented successful workshops and seminars on communication. As well as being an integral part of The Orchid Academy Lili is a civil celebrant specializing in weddings, namings, house blessings and other celebrations. In November 2006 we moved to our present address beside the Nerang River where we are establishing an orchid garden and hybridizing large-flowered reedstem Epidendrums to produce a range of easy-care garden plants in new colours. | ||
