What Will You Learn In The Certificate 3 In Disability Services Course?

The Certificate III in Disability will teach you many facets of disability support and care. You will learn how to work effectively with people living with disabilities and meet their particular needs, and deliver disability care services that support and enhance the independence of people with disabilities. This disability training course will provide you with the tools to accurately respond to difficult or challenging situations in the health care industry. Additionally, you will learn how to:

Certificate III Disability Course Outline & Structure

Course Units

The Certificate III in Disability is comprised of 9 core units, and 5 electives. It is Australia's nationally recognised and accredited qualification in disability services and care, and is designed for those interested in becoming a disability support worker, community care worker, care assistant, disability service worker, personal care giver or home care assistant.

During the course of your studies you will need to organise and complete between 80-240 hours workplace-based experience to solidify your practical experience and skills in working with people living with disabilities. This disability training course has been specifically designed to develop the knowledge and skills required to work safely and effectively with disabled individuals, providing an opportunity for those with a passion for helping and community care to take a leading role in disability care and service.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites for the Certificate 3 in Disability care qualification, however it is recommended that students are 18 years of age or older, and have a sound understanding of English and Maths. Students are required to have the ability to read and write simple documents, and collect basic numeral data. Students must undergo a police check for a criminal background in order to work in this field.

You will need to have: Access to a computer (PC or Mac) with Internet, Latest Adobe Flash Player 7, Latest Adobe Acrobat Reader (Essential for Mac Users), Microsoft Word 97 or later (for PC)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is available to any learner who can provide evidence of competency for the units offered within the qualification.
