Course Outline

Nominal Hours: This qualification is estimated to take about 300 hours to complete. This equals approximately 6 hours of study per week over 12 months. Since the course is self paced, you are able to work at your own pace and complete the qualification in less than the maximum 12 months.

Assessment Methods: The Certificate IV in Business Administration is assessed using a combination of written questions, case studies, and practical assessment to give you maximum opportunity to develop your administrative skills and knowledge.

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites required to enter the Cert IV in Business Admin. However, it is preferred that you:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)
  • Hold a Certificate III in Business Administration OR some industry experience in a relevant role (e.g. Office Administration Assistant, Receptionist, Accounts Clerk, Data Entry Operator)
  • Have basic computer skills

  • BSBWHS401A – Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements

The BSB50407 Diploma of Business Administration is a popular study path for learners once they complete the BSB40507 Certificate IV in Business Administration qualification. The Diploma qualification develops skills and competencies used in roles such as General Office Manager or Administration Manager. 

A range of other qualifications can complement the skills learnt in this Cert IV Business Admin course. These can include:

  • Certificate IV in Accounting or Certificate IV in Bookkeeping - develop strong bookkeeping skills to take control of common tasks like payroll, Business Activity Statement reporting, accounts payable and accounts receivable. This can lead to becoming a registered BAS Agent and create opportunities to start a contract bookkeeping business. 
  • Certificate IV in Human Resources - develop human resources skills to support common workplace activities like recruitment, induction, industrial relations and managing workplace relationships.
