Course Outline

Nominal Hours: This qualification is estimated to take about 520 hours to complete. This equals approximately 10 hours of study per week over 12 months. Since the course is self paced, you are able to work at your own pace and complete the qualification in less than the maximum 12 months.

Assessment Methods: The Diploma of Project Management is assessed through written questions, problem solving in scenarios or simulated activities, projects and by gathering documents.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites to enrol in this qualification. It is preferred that you:

  • Hold a BSB41513 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice OR have extensive work experience in project management roles
  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)
  • Have basic computer skills

This qualification is designed to be studied while you have access to a workplace so you can complete a range of workplace based assessment. However, if you do not have access to a workplace, we will provide you with simulated workplace activities so you can still successfully complete the assessments and gain your Diploma of Project Management qualification.

Qualification Pathways

This Diploma of Project Management course is an ideal study path if you have already completed your Certificate IV in Project Management Practice qualification and want to advance your project management skills. It can also be used to formalise your workplace-based experience working in project management and develop additional skills. Once you completed your Diploma of Project Management, you can continue your studies with the Advanced Diploma of Project Management.

You can also study a range of complementary courses which will help you develop new abilities to enhance your performance as a project manager. These can include:

  • Certificate IV in Human Resources – to improve your skills in human resource management on projects. 
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety/Diploma of Work Health and Safety – increase your ability to effectively manage and participate in WHS processes in projects. 
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – to conduct effective training in the workplace or become a project management trainer. 
  • Certificate IV in Business Administration – develop your general office administration skills.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
